FE REPORT | Saturday, 16 March 2024

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) alleged on Friday that the government is now hatching a new conspiracy against the Zia family, including the party's acting chairperson Tarique Rahman.
Senior joint secretary general of BNP Rubul Kabir Rizvi made the remark at a regular press briefing at the party's Nayapaltan headquarters in the capital.
"The dummy government after the dummy election held on January 7, 2024 started hatching a new conspiracy against Zia family and BNP's acting chairman Tarique Rahman. The government started spreading propaganda by controlling a section of media," he said.
"The government could not tolerate the wave of Tarique Zia's successful leadership that inspires the country's democratic minded people," he also said.
Mr Rizvi accused the government of constantly using falsehood against BNP.
He said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as per her plan evades the story of looting by the ruling party men that has even surpassed the story of Alif Laila.
"Does the Prime Minister hear the SOS message of starved people during this Ramadan," he questioned.
Mr Rizvi further said that the government has started implementing a master plan to destroy the BNP and Zia family.
Addressing Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, he said, "Mr Obaidul Quader whatever you say, it has been proven to the people of the country that another name of the ruling Awami League is syndicate and looting."
He alleged that whenever the Awami League comes to power, then they hurt sentiment and beliefs of the Muslims and inflict torture on Alem and Ulema community of the country.
"The ruling Awami League for their own interests sometimes use Islam and sometimes throws it away. The people of the country have lost their votes, democracy and rules of law. And now the majority Muslim people have started losing their culture and norms and values because of this government," he said.
