Govt imposing surcharge on cell phone use

The government has decided to impose a surcharge on mobile phone use, the prime minister has said. 'Funds raised from this surcharge will be spent on education and health,' Sheikh Hasina told the Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament) on Saturday taking part in the budget discussion. She said the import tax on mobiles were somewhat higher. Addressing the Finance Minister, Sheikh Hasina said, 'You may consider reducing tax on import of mobile phones,' according to bdnews24.com.
