LGRD Minister and Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam on Monday said the government does not know anything about the arrest of Nur Hossain, the prime accused in Narayanganj 7-murder case, in Kolkata. 'We don't know anything in this regard. What we've come to know is through newspapers,’ Ashraf told reporters after inaugurating a 2-week tree plantation campaign at city’s Khamar Bari. Nur Hossain, Narayanganj City Corporation’s Ward 4 councillor who went into hiding after recovery of the bodies of 7 slain men from Shitalakkha and Dhaleswari rivers in April, was arrested along with two other people by West Bengal police from an apartment in Kolkata on Saturday night and placed on an 8-day remand the following day. On Sunday, State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the government has started the process to bring Nur and his aides back home from India under the prisoner-exchange treaty between the two countries. State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam on the same day said India is yet to inform Bangladesh formally about Nur Hossain’s arrest, according to bdnews24.com.
