Govt land for landless farmers

Landless farmers will soon get free plots from the government with the Land Minister working on such a move. Shamsur Rahman Sharif, who holds the land portfolio, has directed his ministry officials and divisional commissioners to recover state-owned agricultural land and distribute them among landless families without any payment. Laws will be amended if need be to evict grabbers of government land, Sharif told at a meeting of the ministry with divisional commissioners. He directed divisional commissioners to give government agricultural land to 21,000 landless families, 48 in each Upazila, by June this year, according to bdnews24.com.
