Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Monday said the government will soon undertake a project, ‘Grameen Janapad’, to ensure housing and other civic facilities for the rural poor.
He stated this when World Food Programme (WFP) Representative to Bangladesh Christa Rader met the Minister at his office.
Terming the activities of the WFP as benevolent and welfare-oriented, the Planning Minister requested the WFP representative to Bangladesh to continue their programmes in the country.
The WFP is now operating school feeding, maternal and child nutrition programmes, social safety net programme and climate change impact related activities in Bangladesh.
Mustafa Kamal said the present government has been working relentlessly for ensuring economic emancipation of the common people.
“The government is pledge-bound to turn the country’s huge population as human resource through formulating time-befitting and standard education system,” he added, according to UNB.
