Govt mulls Tk 55b plan to modernise Mongla port

The government is going to undertake a mega plan involving Tk 55 billion for modernisation of Mongla sea port. Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan said this while speaking at a discussion meeting organised by Khulna Development Forum Friday night. The minister said the Mongla port has now become profitable. At least 30 ships are anchoring at the port every month and six showrooms have been opened in Khulna for selling cars. Shahjahan said the government has developed tourism industry centring the Sundarbans for the development of the southern region. - BSS
