Govt must give back missing men: BNP

FE REPORT | Thursday, 31 August 2023

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has said the government must give answers to the innocent children's who are yet to get back their disappeared fathers during the present government.
"The government must give answers to the innocent children who are yet to get back their fathers due to enforced disappearance happened during the present government," said BNP standing committee member Dr Abdul Moin Khan as the chief guest.
He was addressing a human chain formed outside the party's central office in Nayapaltan area on Wednesday, marking International Day of the Disappeared 2023.
"The innocent children are crying for their disappeared fathers," said Dr Khan.
A child, who participated in the event, said they want to observe 'Father's Day' rather than the present 'day of the disappeared' due to their devastating minds.
Party leaders, supporters and family members of BNP and its associate bodies, and those who returned from disappearance also participated in the programme.
Earlier, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said his party would bring out a procession with black cloths on the face today (Thursday).
However, the party changed the plan and formed a human chain in front of its office.
BNP Dhaka north unit convener Amanullah Aman presided over the event.
"This is my father (showing a photograph). I feel sad without my father. Please give back my father. We want to observer Father's Day, not 'Day of the Disappeared'," said the tearful Adiba Islam.
She called upon the government to bring back her father, saying that her father disappeared when she was only two years old.
