Govt must step aside: Khaleda

Saturday, 19 April 2014

Likening the current government with Hitler, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday said it must step aside forthwith and be made accountable to the people of the country. “Your (govt’s) days are numbered, no matter how much efforts you will make to cling to power along with Ershad. I want to equivocally tell you that you won’t be able to hang onto to power for a long time. You have to go…you must go,” she said. Khaleda also warned the government that after quitting power it has to be made accountable to people for its all misdeeds and misrule. The former prime minister came up with the remarks while addressing the inaugural session of the 7th national council of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, the BNP’s labour wing, at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh. Reiterating her party’s demand for arranging a fresh national election under a non-party caretaker government, Khaleda said had the current ‘illegal regime had the minimum sense of shame it would have quit and hold an election under a neutral administration, according to a news agency.
