Govt ordered to hand over investigation to RAB
FE Report | Tuesday, 4 February 2014
The High Court (HC) Monday directed the authorities concerned to hand over the responsibility of probing into the recent burglary at Sonali Bank's Kishoreganj main branch to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
Home Secretary and Inspector General of Police (IGP) were directed to hand over the investigation within 48 hours, court sources said.
Upon a writ petition, a HC bench comprising Justice Dr Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice ABM Altaf Hossain also issued a two-week rule for probing into any militancy link with the burglary incident, and bringing the main culprits into book.
Home Secretary, IGP, Director General of RAB and three others were made respondents to reply to the rule.
Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB), a rights body, filed the writ petition while Advocate Manzill Murshid appeared for the petitioner in the court.
