Govt out to annihilate opposition: Khaleda
Sunday, 14 September 2014
Denouncing the issuance of warrant for the arrest of her party spokesperson Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia Sunday night said the government has got desperate to annihilate the opposition through various repressive ways sensing its imminent fall, according to a news agency.
“The illegal regime is hatching plots one after another to give the one-party rule a strong footing by eliminating the opposition. The issuance of the warrant for Fakhrul’s arrest by implicating him in a false case and the inclusion of his name in the chargesheet are part of the plots,” she said in a statement.
Khaleda, a former Prime Minister, also said the arrest warrant has been issued as the government wants to perpetuate its misrule. “The only motive behind the move is to gag the voice of opposition leaders so that no one can raise voice against the new Baksali misrule,” she said.
Reacting to the court order, Khaleda Zia said, “The isolated and state power usurper government is now going to imprison a central opposition leader like Mirza Fakhrul to tackle its shaken base in a terrorist style.”
Khaleda demanded the government immediately withdraw the ‘cooked and ridiculous’ case against Fakhrul alongside revoking the arrest warrant.
