Govt out to keep Tarique away from politics

BNP spokesman Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday claimed that the government is implicating their senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman in ‘false’ cases to keep him away from politics. “We consider Tarique Rahman as a future leader. The government is filing false cases against him to keep him away from politics though they couldn’t prove any charge against him,” he said. Fakhrul, the BNP acting secretary general, came up with the remarks while addressing a discussion arranged by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, marking Tarique’s 50th birthday. He claimed that all the cases filed against Tarique are conspiratorial and politically motivated. The BNP leader alleged that the enemies of the country who had killed Ziaur Rahman in 1981 masterminded the 1/11 government and also tried to annihilate Tarique. Referring to recent court summon against Tarique in a defamation case, he said the government is constantly hatching plots to resist the BNP senior vice chairman from returning home, according to a news agency.
