Govt plans to reach electricity to all by 2021, says adviser

Electricity will reach every home of Bangladesh by 2021, Tawfiq-e-Ilahi Chowdhury, the prime minister's adviser on power, energy and mineral resources said Thursday, reports UNB.
He was talking to journalists after a meeting with deputy commissioners on the final day of their three-day conference at Bangladesh Secretariat.
Tawfiq-e-Ilahi said the energy sector has witnessed huge development under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The supply of electricity during this Ramadan has been far better than before easing the problem of load shedding.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Affairs Nasrul Hamid told journalists that the government would set up coal-based power plants between Chittagong and Khulna aimed at producing several thousands megawatt of electricity.
