Govt promulgates ordn empowering executive magistrates

President Iajuddin Ahmed promulgated an ordinance delegating powers to executive magistrates to fine offenders in spot trial and award them maximum three months of imprisonment on default of paying the fines. The Mobile Court Ordinance 2007, published in a gazette notification on October 29, empowered the executive magistrates to conduct mobile court to maintain law and order and prevent offences after separation of the judiciary from the executive control on November 1. —UNB
