Govt puts best efforts to hold free, fair polls, says adviser

Adviser for Commerce and Education Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman said in the city Thursday that the government was putting its best efforts to hold a free, fair and neutral election in the country, reports BSS.
"We are marching ahead to achieve the goal of holding a free and fair election and the voters' interest in this regard is tremendous," he said.
The adviser told this to a group of newsmen at the Ministry of Public Works at the Bangladesh Secretariat here.
Adviser for Communications Maj Gen (retd) Ghulam Quader and Adviser for Law and Justice AF Hasan Arif were present on the occasion.
"We are hopeful that a peaceful parliamentary election would be held in the country on December 29 and our position is clear in this connection," Hossain Zillur said.
He said the law enforcing agencies have been deployed in the fields in order to maintain peaceful atmosphere for holding a free, fair and credible election in the country.
"All out preparations have been made. If any problem arises, quick steps will be taken instantly," Dr Zillur said.
Replying to a question, he told the journalists that no doubt or any question would arise out of election because our position was clear to all.
