\\\'Govt puts emphasis on developing communication networks\\\'

RANGPUR, May 30 (BSS): The present government has put maximum emphasis on construction of bridges, culverts and roads for further developing infrastructure and communication networks to accelerate uplift in rural areas.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Ministry Tipu Munshi, MP, said this after inaugurating the newly built 33-feet long bridge at Tk 2.3 million (23 lakh) on the river Manash under Kawnia upazila here on Friday afternoon as the chief guest.
The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief implemented construction works of the bridge for developing road communication networks in Sarai and Haragachh unions of Kawnia upazila fulfilling long-cherished demand of the local people.
Kawnia Upazila Chairman Alhaj Mahfuzar Rahman Mithu, President of Kawnia Thana Awami League (AL) Anwarul Islam Maya, Mayor of Haragachh pourashava Sadakat Hossain Jhantu and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rashedul Haque were present as special guests.
Vice-chairman of Kawnia upazila Abdur Razzaque, Chairmen Abdul Hannan of Shaheedbag union and Ashraful Islam of Sarai union, Organising Secretary of district AL Tuhin Chowdhury, former Kawnia Thana AL Persistent Hakibur Rahman, AL leaders Mahfuzar Rahman Basunia and Motahar Hossain Dalu also addressed.
Tens of hundreds of the common people of all ages from all walks in life of Sarai and Haragachh unions and adjoining areas attended the ceremony.
In his speech, Tipu Munshi narrated the massive development works being conducted by the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the country, including his constituency comprising of Pirgachha and Kawnia upazilas in Rangpur.
He strongly criticised BNP for recent killings of the innocent people through hurling petrol bombs, creating anarchy and patronising militancy to hinder the pace of developments through destruction, torching vehicles and creating unrest in the country.
He urged people from all walks in the society to further strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for continuation of the momentum of development in the process of building a middle income nation as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Congratulating the local people on commissioning of the bridge, Tipu Munshi called upon them to remain united in the spirit of the war of liberation in building a prosperous Bangladesh free from poverty, corruption, terrorism, militancy and destruction.
