‘Govt ready to provide spl security for Tarique’

Home Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Tuesday said the government is ready to provide any special security arrangements for BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman. He made the remarks after a meeting of the core committee on law and order at the Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka.
Responding to a question from the media about Tarique Rahman's return to Bangladesh, he said, "This matter was not discussed here [in the core committee]. There is no security threat to anyone in Bangladesh."
He added, "We are prepared for everyone. The Ministry of Home Affairs is ready for all, and especially for those who need special arrangements, we are fully prepared," while answering another query about providing security for Tarique Rahman. Meanwhile, BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed said on Monday that Tarique Rahman will be returning to the country very soon.
