Govt releases Tk 2.0b for jute, jute goods exporters

The government has released a sum of Tk 2.0 billion for payment as cash incentives to the exporters of local jute and jute goods on their export earnings, officials said.
The Office of the Controller General of Accounts (CGA) issued debit authority over the released fund.
Earlier, a sum of Tk 19 billion was released for payment as cash incentives to local exporters on their export earnings, officials said.
Both the amounts were released under the first installment of cash incentives for July-September period of the current fiscal year (FY '23).
The incentives are also meant for readymade garment (RMG), the country's main forex earner, and others in the export oriented sectors, sources said.
The government provided up to 20 per cent cash subsidy on 38 products against the exports in the last fiscal year.
