Govt seeks to appeal Jail Killings acquittals

The government has moved to appeal against the High Court's acquittal last year of six accused and convicted in the Jail Killings case.
Advocate Mushfiqur Rahman filed five separate leaves-to-appeal with the Appellate Division Monday, reports bdnews24.com.
The High Court, on August 28 last year, cleared six men of the murder of four national leaders inside Dhaka Central Jail on November 3, 1975.
The government is seeking to appeal the acquittals of Lt Col (dismissed) Syed Farook Rahman, Lt Col (retired) Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan, retired majors Bazlul Huda and AKM Mohiuddin and Dafadar (dismissed) Marfat Ali Shah and Dafadar (dismissed) Abul Hashem Mridha.
The four former officers, currently behind bars, were given life sentences. Marfat and Mridha, both fugitive, were given death sentences.
