BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia alleged Thursday that the current government has sent democracy into the grave by usurping the state power, reports UNB.
"The country's independence and sovereignty are now in a deep crisis, as democracy has been sent into the grave," she said in a message.
The message was issued on the occasion of the 132nd birth anniversary of 'Majlum Jananeta', the leader of the downtrodden, Moulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani.
Khaleda Zia alleged that the current democracy annihilator government, which is a cohort of hegemonic force, has been in office by grabbing the state power through the January-5 farcical election.
She called upon the people to resist the aggressive and hegemonic forces imbued with the bravery and ideals of Moulana Bhashani.
Meanwhile, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged Thursday that the government is unwilling to go for a fresh inclusive election under a non-party administration in fear of a massive debacle.
Mirza Fakhrul further said, "Now we've no other option but to pull down this corrupt and autocratic regime. We must wage a strong movement putting aside all misunderstanding and divisions."
The BNP leader was addressing a training workshop of Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal at the seminar room of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.
The BNP acting secretary general asked the leaders of Mohila Dal to be more organised and strengthen their activities all over the country. "You must be more vocal even within the party to realise your rights."
