The government is preparing a roadmap styled 'the National E-governance Vision' to upgrade the country's governance and enhance the economic activities.
The roadmap, to be executed through computerisation of all government offices and organisations, will be aimed at ensuring prompt service delivery to the public and reduce the gap among public and private business entities.
"The roadmap is being prepared with financial assistance of the United Nations Development Fund (UNDP)," Mahbub Sarwar, national project director of the Access to Information Programme (AIP) under the Chief Adviser's office, told the FE.
The UNDP has provided $1.2 million as grant for preparing the roadmap.
He said according to the roadmap, short, medium and long-term projects will be launched in collaboration with the multilateral donor agencies, to reap optimum benefit of the cutting-edge technology.
The draft of the roadmap is expected to be completed by October, KM Morshed, project manager of the UNDP said. It will be taken to all stakeholders concerned for their opinions.
The roadmap will be produced for approval of the Chief Adviser by the end of this year, sources said.
The roadmap, Morshed said, will help streamline the country's financial sector also as all transactions will be automated.
Answering a question, he said, "We are committed to extend all possible technical support to the government in connection with its efforts in launching the projects."
