The visiting Danish minister for trade and development cooperation Mogens Jensen said on Wednesday the government should work with other parties to resolve the ongoing political crisis.
"Everybody is concerned about political unrest. We trust the government. We hope the government will work with other parties to resolve the crisis," he told journalists after meeting with Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith at his government residence in the capital.
He said everybody was concerned about the human rights and political situation in Bangladesh.
Earlier he arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday on a three-day official visit for discussing Danish cooperation for the country's development.
The finance minister said the Danish government would provide Tk 6.0 billion (Tk 600 crore) to Bangladesh for energy, infrastructure, climate change and socio-economic development of the country. The financial support would be provided from 2016 to 2021.
He termed Denmark the oldest development partner of Bangladesh. "Their (Denmark) aid policy is very positive," he said.
Mr Jensen will call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and other high-ups of the government. He will visit different development projects supported by the Danish government.
He will attend a high-level conference on readymade garments (RMG) and beyond titled "Bangladesh - Framing the Future".
The conference will focus on the learning from the last two years' multi-stakeholder cooperation within the RMG and how the learning may be leveraged for other potential export sectors and in respect of greening of the RMG industry.
