Govt success in agri sector lauded

RAJSHAHI, June 16 (BSS): Agriculture Secretary Shaymal Kanti Ghosh here said the present government has attained remarkable success in agriculture sector and urged the officials concerned to put in their collective efforts to uphold the success in the days ahead.
He said there was no need of importing rice in last five years as we had adequate production to feed the nation. "Now we have started exporting rice".
He stated this while addressing a meeting with the district and regional level officials and researchers of different departments and organisations under the ministry of agriculture at the conference hall of in the city Sunday.
He also went round different sections and demonstration plots of BRRI, BARI, SRDI Laboratory and Fruit Research Center to see for himself their activities and progress.
Regional Director of Department of Agriculture Extension Fazlur Rahman, Deputy Director Hazrat Ali, Chief Scientific Officer of Regional Horticulture Research Station Dr Shafiqul Islam and Principal Scientific Officer of Fruit Research Center Dr Alim Uddin, among others, were present on the occasion.
