Govt takes steps to ensure quality education: Nahid

CHITTAGONG, Apr 1 (BSS): Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today said the present government has taken all-out efforts to ensure quality education in higher education.
He said Bangladesh remains well ahead in women education among SAARC countries and the country will be able to achieve gender equity in enrollment to university education by 2024.
"Fifty one per cent female and 49 per cent male students enroll to primary level," he told the convocation of Chittagong Independent University (CIU) as the chief guest in a city convention hall.
Nahid said the government is pledge-bound to bring all private universities under Private University Act and the universities must ensure a congenial academic atmosphere.
Earlier, the minister, on behalf of President and Chancellor of the university Abdul Hamid, distributed certificates among the graduates.
University Grants Commission Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan attended the convocation as special guest.
