Govt takes steps to provide healthcare for all: Health Minister

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Huq Tuesday said the government has taken diverse steps to ensure healthcare for all by setting up health infrastructures to reach the people of the disaster-prone coastal areas of the country, reports BSS.
Health problem is involved with any disaster and that is why hospitals need to be kept ready for providing healthcare services during disaster.
The Health and Family Welfare Minister said this while speaking at the inaugural function of the World Health Day Programme at the Osmani Memorial auditorium in the city Tuesday.
This year's theme of the day is 'Save Lives: Make Hospitals Safe in Emergencies', he said.
The Health Minister formally released stamps and first day covers in observance of the day and distributed prizes among the children who participated in a painting competition on World Health Day.
The minister said, from now on the health officials will make surprise visits to the hospitals across the country throughout the year.
Health Secretary Sheikh Altaf Ali presided over the function while World Health Representative Dr Duangvadee Sungkhobol, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Planning Md Abul Kalam Azad, Joint Secretary, Dr Md Anwar Hossain Munshi, Director General Disaster Management Bureau Md Farhaduddin, Director General of the Department of Health and Family Welfare Professor Shah Monir Hossain spoke, among others.
