Govt to appoint official passport processing agents

The government Sunday decided to appoint official passport processing agents and decentralise passport issuing process with a view to easing passport renewal and issuance system. According to an official handout, the decision was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting held at the Home Ministry. The official agents will be empowered to receive application of passport, attest the required documents, collect fees deposit collected fees, send the application to the passport office and distribution of passport and other related work. Under the decentralisation plan, the passports would be distributed through the deputy commissioners office of 17 districts-Feni, Moulvibazar, Bogra, Pabna, Tangail, Kushtia, Patukhlai, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Dinajpur, Cox's Bazar, Chandpur, Gazipur, Manikganj , Narsingdi, Brahmanbaria and Dhaka.
