The government has taken a step to build a 700-bed modern, super specialised hospital at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) to reach the healthcare facilities of international standard to the common people, says a press release.
This was disclosed at the two-day 'First Live Workshop on Complex Coronary Intervention and Scientific Conference', organised by the Society for Study of Chest Pain in the city recently.
Health and Family Planning Minister Mohammad Nasim was present as the chief guest at the conference while BSMMU vice-chancellor (VC) Dr Pran Gopal Dutta presided.

Dr Pran Gopal Dutta said the cost of diagnostic tests at BSMMU is half of the cost in private hospitals and in some cases, it is one-third.
The quality of the tests is of high standard in the university, he added.
Prof Sajal Krishna Banerjee, president of the Society for Study of Chest Pain, gave vote of thanks at the workshop while Dr SM Mostafa Zaman, associate professor of Cardiology of BSMMU and secretary general of the society, spoke on the occasion as course director.
