Govt to build state-of-the-art industries: Minister

The government is seriously mulling to set up environment-friendly high-tech industries apart from modernising the old ones aiming to boost the country's economy, said State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder on Saturday in the capital.
"Apart from modernising the old industries, the government is actively considering to set up high-tech and environment friendly industries in the country to boost the country's economy," he said as the chief guest while virtually inaugurating managing directors (MDs) conference 2020 of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC).
Chairman of BCIC Md Mostafizur Rahman presided over the event.
The junior minister said that the government is encouraging local and foreign investment for setting up state-of-the- art industries in the country.
He directed the authorities concerned to complete the ongoing construction work of buffer godowns for ensuring well preservation of fertiliser.
At present BCIC is constructing 47 buffer godowns that are scheduled to be completed by June 2021.
Mr Majumder directed the officials concerned to check waste of fertiliser stored at godowns.
He urged the trade union leaders to work more and regularly that will also encourage others workers to follow their footprints.
He called upon the managing directors of different industries owned by the ministry of industries to put joint efforts by the officials and workers for making their respective industrial unit/organisation profitable.
