Govt to buy 11m litres of soybean oil from US

It'll also buy 12,500 tonnes of sugar for TCB

The government will buy 11 million litres of soybean oil from the US-based Accentuate Technology Inc for the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) that will sell the oil at subsidised rate among the low-income group of people.
Each litre of imported soybean oil will cost Tk 140, while the total cost will stand at Tk 1.295 billion.
Besides, 7.0 million litres of soybean oil will be bought from local company City Edible Oil, where per litre will cost Tk 182.65. A total of Tk 1.278 billion will be needed for the procurement.
Moreover, 12,500 tonnes of sugar will be bought for the TCB from Brandshare Trading Ltd Dhaka at a total cost of Tk 1.312 billion under direct tender method. Each kg of sugar will cost Tk 105.
The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase approved three separate proposals regarding the import in a virtually held meeting on Wednesday with Finance Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal in the chair.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Sayeed Mahbub Khan said the meeting also approved procurement of 30,000 tonnes of TSP fertiliser from OCP, SA, Morocco at a total cost of Tk 1.20 billion for the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC).
The BADC was also given go-ahead to procure 50,000 tonnes of MOP fertiliser under state-level agreement from Canadian Commercial Corporation at a cost of Tk 2.266 billion.
Moreover, the meeting approved three separate proposals of the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) on the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar.
Under a proposal, the committee approved appointment of a joint venture of Cheil Engineering Co Ltd of Korea, Yooshin Engineering Corporation of Korea, and Engineering and Planning Consultants Ltd of Bangladesh as consultants for the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar Development Project at a cost of Tk 535 million.
Also a joint venture of CCECC of China and CRCC of China was awarded the construction work of 10.70 km road and 16.557 km drainage network in the Mirersarai-2A Economic Zone area of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar at a cost of Tk 2.379 billion.
Moreover, the meeting awarded National Development Engineers Ltd construction work of 12.10 km road and 12.861 km drainage network at a cost of Tk 2.199 billion at Mirersarai-2B Economic Zone.
