Govt to continue anti-graftdrive, says Mainul

Saturday, 29 September 2007

Law Adviser Mainul Hosein Friday said the government would continue the drive against corrupt businessmen, mainly the big ones, besides paying special attention to the business community in the interest of the economy. "The government is trying to exempt businessmen from the drive to give a boost to the economy, but it'll have to face criticism if it exempts those who committed large-scale corruption," he told reporters following an iftar party hosted by the FBCCI in the city. Mainul said the government's one of the main principles is to separate businessmen from politics. "But in our case, it's difficult to understand who is a businessman and who is a politician." — UNB
