Govt to create fund for infrastructural dev: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the government would create a fund for the infrastructural development of the country, reports UNB.
She made the disclosure when outgoing High Commissioner of Singapore Verghese Mathews called on her at her official residence Ganobhaban Monday.
"We will create a fund for infrastructural development of the country in various sector including rail and road,'' she said.
Deputy press Secretary to the Prime Minister Bijan Lal Dev briefed the reporters after the call on.
He said that the Prime Minister informed the outgoing Singaporean High Commissioner that Bangladesh provides a good environment and package for the foreign investors.
She requested the High Commissioner to convey this message to the Singaporean investors so that they could avail the excellent investment opportunity in Bangladesh.
Hasina said that the private foreign investors can enjoy the public private partnership (PPP) opportunity also.
The outgoing High Commissioner praised the eligible leadership of Hasina, saying that under her leadership Bangladesh made remarkable progresses in different sectors including women empowerment and child health.
He also praised Hasina for her visionary leadership to attain a stable economic growth during the worldwide recession.
The Prime Minister mentioned that Bangladesh attained 6.7 per cent GDP growth in the last fiscal year and has fixed a target to attain 7 per cent GDP growth in the current fiscal.
She said that her government is working hard to fulfill the desire of the mass people as they were voted to do so.
Both the Prime Minister and the outgoing High Commissioner hoped that the excellent relation between Bangladesh and Singapore will be strengthened further.
Verghese thanked Hasina for 'all-out cooperation extended to him by her government during his stay in Bangladesh.
Ambassador at large M Ziauddin, Principal Secretary Shaikh Md Wahid-uz-Zaman and special assistant to the Prime Minister Abdus Sobhan Golap were present during the time.
