FE Report
The interim government will sit again with all the development partners tomorrow (Tuesday) to set a plan of action for ensuring a greater coordination between the administration and the donors in carrying out the post-cyclone relief operations.
It will be the government's third meeting with its development partners since the cyclone 'Sidr' devastated the country's south and south-western coastal districts on November 15 last, Food and Disaster Secretary Md. Aiyub Miyan told a press briefing Sunday.
He also said the government will soon a hold meeting with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) working in Bangladesh to integrate them into the ongoing relief and rehabilitation activities in the affected areas.
"Emergency relief operations have already been strengthened in the cyclone-hit districts and those will gather further momentum with the newly established relief coordination centre starting its operations from Monday (today)," the disaster secretary said.
The council of advisers of the caretaker government set up Saturday the coordination centre in Barisal, which will oversee overall relief operations in the affected areas under the direct supervision of the Communications Adviser MA Matin, he informed the newsmen.
LGRD Secretary Safar Raj Hossain, Health and Family Welfare Secretary AKM Zafarullah Khan and senior government officials were present at the press briefing, which was held at the Secretariat.
Aiyub Miyan said six to seven Saudi aircraft carrying emergency relief goods will arrive in Dhaka within a few days.
