The government will soon ensure standard cardiac surgery facilities at all medical colleges and big hospitals along with establishing high quality cardiac care unit in all district hospitals to face growing heart diseases in the country, reports UNB.
"Heart diseases among our young generation are recently found in large numbers."
Health Minister AFM Ruhal Haque said this at a 'General Awareness Seminar' at the National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh on the occasion of the World Heart Day Sunday.
He urged the private entrepreneurs in the country to come forward with positive intent to invest in the health sector and help provide better healthcare services to all citizens.
"Besides the government, the private sector will have to take initiatives in this regard," he added.
He also said cardiac surgery facilities would soon be ensured at all medical colleges and big hospitals. "Quality cardiac care unit at all district Sadar hospitals will also be established so that patients with heart diseases can be saved."
He stressed on to create mass awareness for taking preventive measures through change of dietary habit to avert the heart diseases.
Presided over by the president of National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh, Justice Chowdhury ATM Masud, the seminar was also addressed by WHO representative Duangvadee Sunghobol and national professor Brig (retd) Abdul Malik.
Addressing the function, Professor Malik suggested that people should practice good habits and shun bad ones to avert heart diseases.
"No smoking, keeping the right body weight, less intake of fat and taking regular exercise could help people prevent heart diseases," he said, adding that the diabetic patients in particular must take proper preventive measures.
Sohel Reza Choudhury, consultant of National Health Foundation and Research Centre, presented the keynote paper at the seminar.
