Govt to establish 30 tech training centres, 5 marine tech institutes

The government is going to establish 30 new technical training centres and five new marine technology institutes in 35 districts, aiming to generate skilled workers for overseas employment, the finance Minister Thursday said.
"A new project has been taken up to establish these technical training centres and marine technology institutes which are likely to generate 100,000 new skilled workers each year," Mr AMA Muhith said.
He was presenting the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2010-11 at Parliament.
Announcing Tk1.39 billion allocation for the Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry for the ensuing fiscal, the finance minister spoke of establishment of Expatriate Welfare Bank, founding Migration and Skill Development Fund and taking initiatives to explore new and potential labour markets.
