PABNA, Sept 19 (BSS): State Minister for Home Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku said that the government would face with an iron hand those who want to commit crimes in the country.
"Through the ballot, people have rejected those who wanted to turn Bangladesh into a failed state by instigating terrorism and extremism," he said.
The state minister said this while addressing a function arranged on distributing food among the poor people on the premises of a bank at Haturia Nakalia union under Bera Upazila of the district Saturday.
He also said that the people would eliminate those who were involved in terrorism and extremism in the same way.
Tuku said the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants to build a happy, prosperous and non-communal peaceful Bangladesh, as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The country cannot be a shelter of any terrorist or extremist, he added.
With Awami League leader Haji Nurul Islam in the chair, the function was addressed, among others, by Bera Upazila Chairman Azizul Haque Arzu and UP Chairman Mostafizur Rahman.
Through the function, more than 100 leaders and workers of BNP and Jamaat joined Awami League.
