Govt to give all-out supports to pvt sector

FE Report | Tuesday, 3 March 2015

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said on Monday the government would provide all-out supports, including financial stimulus, if necessary, to help the country's private sector maintain its contributions to the economy despite having some odds in recent times.
Mr. Kamal said the government along with the private sector has created 10.4 million jobs in the last five years. A target has been set to generate employments for 13.20 million people in the next five years.
The planning minister said these when a delegation of the newly-elected office bearers of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), led by its president Hossain Khalid, met him at hits ministry office.
At the meeting, the DCCI president said despite employing around 35.5 per cent of the country's workforce, the small and medium industries are forced to pay the highest rate of interest on bank loans.
Mentioning the annual lending rate for the small and medium industries is now 25 per cent, he opined that the rate should be brought down to as low as 10 per cent.
