Govt to import 1.65m tonnes of urea

The government will import 1.65 million tonnes of urea this year to meet the shortfall of the fertiliser, parliamentary standing committee on industries ministry Tofael Ahmed said Tuesday. "The country has a demand of 2.8 million tonnes but it is not possible to produce such a huge quantity locally," he said after a meeting of the committee.
