Govt to improve quality of education: Muhith

SYLHET, Jan 11 (UNB): Finance Minister AMA Muhith said that it was not possible to move the nation ahead without improving the quality of education.
"And that education should be time befitting and modern. So our government is working to improve the quality of education", he said.
He was addressing the 2nd convocation of Sylhet International University on its campus as chief guest Monday.
The Finance Minister chaired the convocation ceremony with consent of President Zillur Rahman, who is also the Chancellor of the University.
He awarded four meritorious students with the Vice Chancellor's Gold Medal and three other students with the Dean's Award.
The Vice Chancellor's Gold Medal went to Syeda Afsana Begum, Tauhida Yasmin Chowdhury, Shahjahan Ahmad and Mohammad Abu Taher while the Dean's Award to Pabitra Kumar Bhattacharjee, Sourav Ahmed and Nazrul Islam.
The convocation ceremony was also addressed, among others, by University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Nazrul Islam while Prof Emeritus Anisuzzaman of Dhaka University was the convocation speaker.
