Govt to procure 0.2m tonnes more Aman rice

The government has decided to procure additional 0.2 million (2 lakh) tones of Aman rice during the Aman season, reports UNB.
Of the latest procurement, 0.15 million tonnes will be boiled rice while the rest 50,000 tonnes will be Atap rice, said a PID handout issued on Tuesday.
Additional allocation will be provided only in favour of the mills that earlier signed agreement in the current Aman procurement season 2023-24. The Food Ministry has been asked to complete the drive by February next year, it said.
On October 08, the government set a target to procure 0.7 million tonnes of paddy and rice from the marginal farmers across the country in the ongoing Aman season.
