Govt to procure modern fire-fighting equipment

State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Jahangir Kabir Nanak Saturday said the government has undertaken steps to procure modern fire-fighting equipment and provide high standard training to firefighters, reports BSS.
The state minister was distributing rice and cash among the families of fire victims of Geneva camp at Mohammadpur in the city, where fire broke out Friday night.
He gave 20 kilograms of rice and Tk 2,000 to each of the 24 fire victim families and seven shopkeepers.
Jahangir Kabir Nanak rushed to the spot when the fire broke out and coordinated the fire-fighting drive.
He assured them of providing all cooperation for their rehabilitation and asked the administration to assess damage caused by the fire there.
