Govt to raise allocation for disaster risk reduction

Housing and Public Works Minister Mosharraf Hossain on Tuesday said the government will take steps to increase the allocation for disaster risk management in the coastal belt of the country. Addressing a memorial ceremony for the dead of the April 29 (1991) Cyclone, the minister said steps will be taken to increase the allocation from the Climate Change Trust Fund (CCTF) of the government for the protection of lives and properties in the coastal belt. The government will also increase its assistance for the rehabilitation of the disaster-hit people, he added. April 29 Memorial Foundation organsied the memorial ceremony at the Jatiya Press Club, according to UNB.
