Govt to raise loan amount, lower interest rate for ETP

State Minister for Environment and Forest Dr Hasan Mahmud Saturday said the government would provide assistance for entrepreneurs to set up effluent treatment plants (ETPs), reports BSS.
He said that the loan for setting up an ETP would be increased to Tk 20 million from present Tk 10 million and the rate of interest would be reduced to 3 per cent from existing 6 per cent.
The state minister said this at a seminar titled "Productivity and Compliance: Imperative for Growth Sustainability" at a city hotel.
Bangladesh Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters' Association (BGMEA) organised the seminar on the concluding day of the three-day long BATEXPO-2009.
BGMEA President Abdus Salam Murshedy chaired the seminar. Chairman of International Leasing and Financial Services Limited Mahbub Jamil addressed the seminar as the special guest.
Senior journalist and columnist Jaglul A Chowdhury, Managing Director of Babylon Dresses Ltd SM Emdadul Islam and Senior Specialist of SMP Nike Inc, Bangladesh, Kumkum Sazia Kutubuddin were discussants.
Senior Consultant of Technopak Gautam Mukherjee presented the keynote paper. Vice president of BGMEA Faruque Hassan moderated the function.
