Govt to rehabilitate 68,000 landless with houses

Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif Thursday said the government will rehabilitate with houses 68,000 landless and homeless families affected by natural calamities, reports BSS.
The houses would be allocated in favour of both landless husbands and wives, he said speaking at a seminar on women's right to land as the chief guest in the city.
Kurigram Rural Development Cell (KRDC) organised the seminar at National Press Club, said an official release.
The land minister said the government is ensuring empowerment of women by giving highest priority to their rights to land.
The government is sincere to ensure proper use of land, he added.
The minister said the government is pledge-bound to build a country free from terrorism, corruption and militancy.
He urged the patriotic people to be united against anti-women, war criminals and enemies of humanity, independence and Islam.
Presided over by KRDC Executive Director Beauty Rani Chowdhury, the seminar was also addressed by State Minister for Fisheries and Animal Resources Narayan Chandra, Prof Mesbah Kamal of Dhaka University, ALRD Executive Director Shamsul Huda and Shechhasebak League President Mollah M Abu Kawser. Advocate Rebeca Pollena Gomez read out a keynote paper.
