Govt to seek review of SC order on Sayedee\\\'s verdict

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said on Sunday the government will file a petition seeking review of the Appellate Division (AD) order that commuted the death sentence of Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee to imprisonment ubtil death, reports BSS.
"We will file the petition once the full verdict is released," the attorney general told reporters at his office.
He said full verdicts of three cases are yet to be released from the AD of the Supreme Court (SC) and hoped that of those three, full verdicts in appeal cases of Sayedee and Ali Ahsan Mojaheed will be released soon.
The AD on September 17, 2014, awarded imprisonment until natural death to Jamaat Nayeb-e- Ameer Delwar Hossain Sayedee, modifying the verdict given by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1.
The first tribunal on February 28, 2013, sentenced Sayedee to death for committing crimes against humanity.
He was found guilty in eight of the 20 charges which included carrying out murder, rape, arson, loot, abduction and persecution in different places of his native Pirojpur.
Sayedee filed the appeal against the death verdict on March 28, 2013.
