Govt to set up commodity stock exchange in city

The government is planning to set up a commodity stock exchange here in the wake of global financial crisis and the price volatility of major international commodities. Commerce Ministry has already launched a study to examine the feasibility of setting up a commodity stock exchange in the backdrop of global financial crisis and the continued price volatility of essential commodities. Commerce secretary Feroz Ahmed made the disclosure at a function marking the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) and the Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) at a city hotel Monday. — UNB
