Govt to set up technical training centres in every upazila

The government will set up technical training centre in every upazila with a view to developing human resources and equipping potential overseas job seekers with skills.
Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain announced this Wednesday at a seminar in the city.
The seminar on "Orientation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET): Towards the world of work and the acquisition of employable skills" was organised by the Ministry of Education and the Directorate of Technical Education.
The minister said there is no way without technical and vocational education to make the people skilled.
He said the government has formed the 2011 National Skills Development Policy to increase the number of skilled people in the country.
Education secretary Muhammed Sadique, Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) director general Begum Shamsun Nahar, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) acting country director Gogon Raj Bhandari, among others spoke at the seminar.
