Govt to start consular services for Bangladeshis in Toronto Dec 17

The consular services of the new Consulate General of Bangladesh in Toronto will begin on December 17, a day after the observance of the victory day, reports bdnews24.com.
The Consulate General's Office said this was a "commitment" of the present government to open a Consulate General for the Bangladeshi diaspora living in the Greater Toronto Area.
The Bangladesh diaspora community and Canadian citizens living in Ontario, Saskatchewan, British Colombia, Albterta and Manitoba will come under this new consulate's jurisdiction.
Initially, the Consulate General will provide services relating to travel documents, visas, attestation, power of attorney, endorsement and consular consultations.
The Department of Immigration and Passports in Dhaka is working on the installation of MRP/MRV/e-passport services in the consulate.
This is so far the 18th foreign mission opened under the current government as part of its "plan to raise Bangladesh's effective representation throughout the globe".
This new mission also symbolises the "strong bilateral relations that exists between Bangladesh and Canada".
In addition to consular services and community welfare, the new Consulate General will contribute "to develop people to people contact and boost trade and commerce between the two friendly countries," it said in a statement.

The Consulate General will remain open on Monday to Friday from 9am to 5 pm and will remain closed on the weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and government holidays. The consular services will be rendered on working days and visiting hours will be from 10 am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm.
