Govt trying to bring back accused in Aug 21 grenade attack case

The government has put all-out efforts to bring back chargesheeted accused in the August 21 grenade attack case to put them on trial, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said on Tuesday, reports UNB.
"The trial of August 21 grenade attack case is going on. Hope we would get justice in this regard. Process is on to bring back the chargesheeted accused…We are putting highest effort to bring them back with a view to putting them on trial," he said.
The minister said this while addressing a discussion organised by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Dhaka city unit (North) marking the 40th death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Krishibid Institution in the city.
The trial against 52 accused in the two cases is being held simultaneously with Dhaka's Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 at the makeshift court at a building near the gate of Dhaka Central Jail.
Of them, 18 are fugitives including BNP vice-chairman Tarique Rahman, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's political secretary Harris Chowdhury, former MP Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad and Maj Gen (retd) ATM Amin.
