Govt trying to save share market culprits: BNP

The BNP has accused the government of trying to save the share market 'culprits' and called for making the full probe report on the latest stocks debacle public, report agencies. BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the demand at a press conference at the party's central office in the city Saturday. BNP leaders Amanullah Aman, Zainul Abdin Farooque, Abdus Salam, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habib-un-Nabi Khan and Shirin Sultana were present at the press conference. "We want the government to make the full report public, not only 'the necessary parts' as mentioned by the finance minister. he (finance minister) is saying this just to save the culprits," Mr Alamgir said. The opposition party in many occasions blamed the government for the Dec-Jan bubble trouble and claimed that Tk 840 billion had been siphoned off the country. Khandker Ibrahim Khaled, chief of the probe committee, submitted the report to Finance Minister AMA Muhith Thursday. Regarding the attack on JCD council in Keraniganj allegedly by police and Chhatra League activists Friday, Alamgir protested the attack on the council and BNP central leader Amanullah Aman. He said the attack was carried out as a part of conspiracy to eliminate the opposition in a bid to establish one party rule. He demanded proper investigation of the attack to find out the real culprits.
