Lawmaker Rashed Khan Menon urged the government Monday to inform the parliament about the Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) with foreign energy companies.
"The PSC should not contain any provision of gas export, when the country is reeling under acute gas shortage," he said in his speech in the Jatiya Sangsad (JS), which went into its third session on the day.
Mr Menon also urged the government to show restraint, when the National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports would submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister.
Chairman of the standing committee on finance AHM Mostafa Kamal sought two more weeks to submit the Insurance Regulatory Authority Bill-2009 and the Insurance Bill-2009 after proper scrutiny.
The bills were first placed in the budget session by Finance Minister AMA Muhith and the parliament gave the standing committee six weeks to scrutinise the bills before submitting them again in the parliament.
The demand for fish in the country is about 7,849 tonnes per day and the local supply accounts for about 6,762 tonnes, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Abdul Latif Biswas told the parliament on the day.
