FE Report
A number of non-government organisations, including social, legal and human rights entities, Thursday urged the government to make some changes in the proposed 'Return of vested property (amended) act -2009' for ensuring its execution appropriately.
They offered some recommendations, which would enable judicious and acceptable disposal of the problem that remained unresolved for the last 44 years.
The recommendations included determination of vested property definition; publication of gazette as per 1974 census in compliance to the Supreme Court's verdict and including both male and female members of a family for entitlement to inheritance.
These were disclosed at a press conference jointly organised by ALRD, Orpito (enemy) Property Ain Protirodh Andolon (OPAPA), Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST), Ain and Salish Kendro (ASK), BOS and Nijera Kori (NK) at the National Press Club.
Md Ghulam Rabbani, former justice of Bangladesh Supreme Court; Sultana Kamal, former advisor of the Caretaker Government; Khushi Kabir, coordinator of NK and Subroto Chowdhury, general secretary of OPAPA; among others, were present.
